Playa Brava: A Secluded Paradise in Tayrona Park
Playa Brava is a hidden gem in Tayrona National Park, best accessed through the Calabazo entrance. The journey to this pristine white-sand beach takes about 4 to 5 hours and is an adventure in itself, offering an immersive experience in nature and culture.
The trek begins in a small town, leading you upwards into the forest. Along the way, you’ll pass local farms and a Kogui indigenous village situated on the edge of Tayrona Park. Visits to this village can be arranged upon request for an additional fee, providing a unique cultural insight. This initial stretch takes approximately an hour.
Once inside Tayrona Park, the trail becomes a lush jungle path shaded by towering trees, offering relief from the Caribbean sun. You’ll cross fresh-water streams where you can cool off and recharge with crystal-clear, revitalizing water. The trail is alive with wildlife—birds, monkeys, and other exotic animals. While spotting them can be a challenge, a knowledgeable local guide can greatly enhance your chances of encountering these fascinating creatures.
