Tayrona National Park in Colombia is renowned for its stunning hiking and horseback trails. Most visitors enter through the main entrance, El Zaino, where a well-trodden path leads to the park’s gorgeous beaches. This trail is easy to navigate without a guide due to its clear markings and the number of fellow hikers along the way, making it ideal for independent exploration.
That said, some travelers opt to hire a guide even on this straightforward route. Guided tours provide a deeper understanding of the park’s rich biodiversity, with fascinating insights into its unique flora, fauna, and cultural history, enhancing the overall experience.
The Calabazo entrance to Tayrona National Park offers a more rustic and adventurous alternative for exploring its beauty. From here, you can embark on a hike to Cabo San Juan del Guia, the park’s iconic beach, celebrated worldwide for its breathtaking scenery and postcard-perfect views.
This route is longer and slightly more challenging than the one from El Zaino, but it’s still manageable without a guide, as hikers take this path daily. However, choosing a guide can significantly enhance your experience, ensuring you stay on track and get the most out of your journey (don’t worry—encounters with jaguars are exceedingly rare!).
Our experienced guides are passionate about sharing their knowledge of Tayrona’s rich history, flora, and fauna. They’ll turn your trek into a deeper exploration of the park’s wonders.
Feel free to contact us for custom tours or any special requests. We’re here to help make your Tayrona Trail adventure unforgettable!

Yes, wild jaguars do roam Tayrona Park! However, as far as we know, there have been no incidents involving these majestic big cats. Jaguars are naturally shy around humans and are most active at night, preferring to hunt under the cover of darkness
